A Moment in Interlude, by Sun Brother

Here is a beautifully intricate song by Sun Brother that I had the privilege of playing some electric guitar on. The challenge of this session was finding the right little pieces to add. When I was asked to contribute to the song, it was already about 90% finished with lots of space in the track already accounted for. Because of this, I had to make my playing extremely textural and needed to play in frequency ranges that were still open in an already very filled out mix. I came in and recorded a bunch of different ideas in a quick hour session and then Billy (of Sun Brother) made creative choices about which parts of my contribution to keep and where to put them. The finished song and my contribution to it was a surprise to me in that I didn’t know what would make the song or not. Lot’s of times as a session player this is the way it goes, you come in and do your work and then sometime after (anywhere from a month or two to a whole year or more!) you get to hear how your contribution fits into the artist's vision and the world of the song, which is always super fun to hear!
